West
Ham v Portsmouth
It's
difficult to see Portsmouth closing the 7 point gap on Everton
with just 6 games to go, especially since winning the FA Cup
earns them the European place that jumping above the Toffees
would've done. Redknapp has admitted that he's happy with 6th
in the league and
they'll start favourites against Cardiff at Wembley but they
had their moments of fortune against a tenacious West Brom side
and Cardiff will be no pushover. Pompey looked toothless against
the Baggies and that looks unlikely to change after Jermain
Defoe is ruled out for
family reasons and Milan Baros is a doubt. They travel to Upton
ParK to face a Hammers side that are yet to beat them in the
Premier league and have registered just 1 win in their last
six fixtures. However, West Ham have had a 10 day rest and in
an effort to arrest the malaise of a midtable position, Curbishley
has been blooding their younger players with some success. The
distraction of Pompey's run in the FA Cup will probably play
into West Ham's hands and they should just edge a victory.
