Liverpool are maintaining the pressure on their Merseyside
rivals in the chase for fourth place and the last Champions
League spot. The bookies have them as favourites to overhaul
Everton given the fixture list but Benitez must realise that
starting with his best eleven is key to success. The Reds
have lost just once at Anfield and with their second leg Champions
League tie with Inter Milan deferred until next week, they
face a West Ham side fresh from a heavy defeat at home to
Chelsea. Upton Park was more than half empty long before the
final whistle and their tenth position leaves little hope
of Europe next season; even with Lampard harshly dismissed
after 36 minutes the Hammers still looked toothless. They've
lost 2 of their last 4 on the road and look no match for a
Liverpool side that have far more to gain from a maximum 3
points.
