Watford
v Blackburn
The
future looks even bleaker for Watford as Charlton extend the
points gap above them. As ever, their performance at Villa Park
was full of commitment but they failled to keep Villa out with
just 4 minutes of normal time to go. The departure of Young
will be a big blow for Boothroyd, but Watford must keep their
eye on securing the finances to bounce straight back up to the
Premiership after their inevitable relegation this season. Their
only Premiership win of the season has come at Vicarage Road,
and they have only lost 4 times there, but only 1 point from
their last 4 home games shows the lack of quality and confidence.
Their opponents, Blackburn, find themselves in the top half
of the table for the first time this season; 3 victories from
their last 4 away games including the emphatic win at Eastlands
leaves Rovers favourites to walk away with the 3 points. A bonus
for them has been Morten Gamst Pedersen getting his name back
on the scoresheet on a regular basis, and lifting some of the
scoring burden from the main strikers. Hughes will be pleased
with his side's recent performances and will want to make the
most of the opportunity to go above Spurs into 9th.
