Spurs will have been disappointed after throwing away another
2 points in the last 3 minutes at the Stadium of Light last
weekend. Two factors are responsible; losing concentration
towards the end of games and not killing teams off by converting
chances. Davids may have been openly critical but if my memory
serves me right he was substituted early on in the second
half after a woeful first half performance. Champions League
may be a step too far for Spurs this season and if they're
not careful they may miss out on the UEFA Cup as there are
a bunch of teams just below them waiting for them to slip
up. Mido is bound to start after the Keane/Defoe partnership
has yet to be convincing. Spurs have only lost once at home
(to Chelsea) and have only dropped 2 points in their last
6 home games but their opponents, Wigan, have not won in their
last 5 games and although they are having a fantastic season
other sides are beginning to catch them. They've had some
difficult games of late and maybe they are already thinking
about their first Cup final towards the end of February. A
close encounter at the Lane but Spurs should win given their
home form.
