Hot Spurs Value at 11/4?

Spurs’ rather listless performance when going down 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last month might explain why they are a standout 11/4 with bet365 for Sunday’s Carling Cup final. But that doesn’t mean we should be quick to back Chelsea at 11/10 (the Draw is 9/4).

While they’re rightfully favourites, it’s unclear as to what team Avram Grant will field and they’ll have to improve markedly on a lacklustre 0-0 draw in Athens on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Spurs’ 5-1 trouncing of the Gunners at White Hart Lane, followed by an unlucky recent 1-1 draw with Man United proves that Spurs can mix it with the big boys under Juande Ramos. They’re 11/8 with bet365 to lift the cup, whether in normal time, extra-time or on penalties (the Blues are 4/7).

One thing’s for sure; Tottenham certainly have an attack to hurt Chelsea, including Dimitar Berbatov, who is 6/1 with bet365 to net first, and Robbie Keane, who could be a spot of value at 7/1 to be first on the scoresheet - 12/5 anytime in the game.

Remember, once the game kicks off (3.00pm, live on Sky Sports), bet365 will be rolling the showboat out when it comes to in-play betting. Just click on their homepage link to launch their all-singing-and-dancing Live In-Play Console.

Champions League is back!

The greatest competition in football resumes on Tuesday as the finest 16 club sides in Europe take each other in the Champions League. For the best value odds, bet with Sportingbet. Here is the lowdown on all eight ties taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday:

Arsenal EVS Draw 21/10 AC Milan 18/5

Arsenal’s run in the English Premier League just continues to flourish and they will fancy their chances of grabbing a home win here against the defending champions.

Liverpool 6/4 Draw 2/1 Inter Milan 17/10

It’s not been a vintage season for Liverpool in the English Premier League and under-pressure manager Rafael Benitez will be hoping the Reds can get past runaway Serie A leaders Inter Milan.

Roma 6/4 Draw 21/10 Real Madrid 33/20

Real Madrid have had an excellent 2008 so far and they sit well clear at the top of La Liga ahead of Barcelona. Roma, meanwhile, sit second in the Serie A at present.

Lyon 2/1 Draw 2/1 Man Utd 13/10

Lyon sneaked through to the Last 16 of the Champions League after a 3-0 win away from home against Rangers. Now their task is harder as they take on English champions Man Utd.

Celtic 7/2 Draw 9/4 Barcelona 3/4

Celtic’s impressive home record will come under assault here against Frank Rijkaard’s free-flowing side. Will Ronaldinho find a way past the Celtic defence?

Olympiakos 3/1 Draw 21/10 Chelsea 9/10

Olympiakos finished above Werder Bremen and Lazio to reach the Last 16 and they’ll look for more glory here against Chelsea. Can Avram Grant’s win away from home?

Fenerbahce 8/5 Draw 21/10 Sevilla 31/20

Sevilla have won the UEFA Cup the last two years but now it’s about the Champions League and they face a tough trip to Turkey in this Last 16 tie. Can Fenerbahce win on home soil?

Schalke 04 11/10 Draw 21/10 Porto 23/10

Porto finished above Liverpool in the group stages last year and will fancy their chances of reaching the Quarter-Finals. Schalke 04 sit third in the Bundesliga at present.
